About Us

Background

During the past 15 years, the number of charter schools has grown from zero to more than 3,600 schools in 41 states. More and more parents are finding that they have charter school options that they can choose for their children. At the same time, charter schools continue to be controversial. Researchers and advocates continue to debate charter school performance, impact on nearby public schools and funding.
